In 1864, two leading Washington, DC families built their homes just off fashionable Massachusetts Avenue, near Mount Vernon Square. 150 years later, these homes would form the heart of the historic Morrison-Clark Inn. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Morrison-Clark Hotel and RB Properties retained Architecture, Incorporated to expand the facility to include three adjoining buildings: a church, a 1700s row house, and a carriage house. This restored 19th-century mansion retains much of the elegant charm of the original houses, including lofty medallion-clad ceilings, Italian Carrera decorative-marble fireplaces, and an exquisite red-tiled Shanghai roof. This was a very complex restoration project that involved preservation of the historical elements including the original facade.
