Prior to a renovation led by Architecture, Inc. the interiors of the Dominion Club were very traditional, with heavy millwork and brass accents. To bring the club up to modern standards while respecting the traditional heritage of the club, the renovation focused on an update to finishes, fixtures, and furniture in 9,980 sf of the 23,000 sf club on both levels. Centered on a large ceremonial rotunda used for event space, the renovation expanded available space by removing very large encasements on the columns on the lower level, freeing up considerable floor space. Finishes on the sweeping stair were refreshed by replacing brass fixtures, installing new carpet, and updating finishes throughout. On the first floor, the main dining area was completely renovated to make it more flexible for a variety of dining options. A variety of seating including a communal table and banquets help to define spaces while keeping the space open. Bright finishes, modern light fixtures, and nostalgic wall graphics helped to update the space while keeping it rooted in tradition. Adjacent restrooms were reconfigured to allow direct access to the dining room. The dining room is now open to a large new covered patio with multiple fire pits, ceiling fans, and casual seating.
