Makers Union Opens at the Wharf in DC

Monday, October 2, 2023

Makers Union held a soft opening Monday for its newest location at The Wharf in Southwest D.C., where the neighborhood pub concept joins a mix of restaurants and bars in the second phase of the waterfront development. Architecture, Inc. did full architecture and interior design services for the 3,550 sf casual restaurant, which features a dining room, bar, aquamarine-tinged banquettes, brass lighting fixtures, exposed brick, and floor-to-ceiling accordion doors that open up to a pet-friendly patio.

Makers Union at the Wharf is the first of three new arrivals planned for 2023, focusing on being a welcoming spot for the community, as their tagline "made for the people" states. Architecture, Inc. is helping the brand expand its presence across the Potomac, near Amazon's HQ2 at 510 14th Street South in Arlington, Virginia. Additionally, there's a change in store for Cathedral Commons as Makers Union will take over the space previously occupied by the now-closed Matchbox Pizza at 3701 Newark Street NW.
