A handful of our designers are participating in IIDA’s 10th annual Cosmo Couture. The competition requires the team to design and create a couture garment made primarily of manufacturing materials. Architecture, Inc. has teamed up with Tarkett DC to create a gown inspired by this year’s theme – “Memory.”

“It’s always nice to have an opportunity to design outside of everyday constraints, and this is a great way to be creative and collaborate. We’re looking at the materials we use in our projects everyday – flooring, carpet, tile – and we’re coming up with ways we can repurpose and manipulate them into a piece of wearable art that can be modeled down a runway. It’s amazing all the different concepts our team came up during the charette. We’re feeling inspired and optimistic about our design.” Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting competition, which will be presented at the National Cathedral in October.
