L'Enfant Plaza Hotel featured in AIA|DC Building of the Day Tour

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

As part of Architecture Month, the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel renovation was featured in AIA|DC's Building of the Day tour. During the tour, attendees received a behind-the-scenes look at the complex interior renovation that comprises the entire Plaza level, including the lobby, restaurant, bar, kitchen, meeting rooms, ballroom, administrative spaces, and other common areas.

Designed by Vlastimil Koubek and completed in 1973, the building anchors historic L’Enfant Plaza by spanning the 12th Street Expressway—and now finds itself in the center of a huge urban redevelopment movement. The original hotel closed in 2013 after changing ownership several times, and the process to renovate, rebrand, and reopen has begun. Once completed, the new Hilton Washington DC National Mall Hotel will join many other exciting projects including the new International Spy Museum and The Wharf waterfront development in creating new life for the L’Enfant Plaza neighborhood.
